ACT ART 7 – CHILDREN OF THE DAMNED
Clubland, Theatre, What's on by HOMOVISION on October 30, 2009 at 1:59 pmACT ART is back.
But what is it? It’s 100 artists, 60 films and 40 live shows in Vauxhall’s supersecret Hidden.
The two main stage arches are filled to capacity with live art, performance and PA’s, each arch suitably subtitled befitting this year’s ‘Children of the Damned’ theme. Timberlina the queen of Vauxhall, hosts The Theatre of Hate, famous for his guerrilla drag, inimitable style and a delicious cocktail of rants, spontaneous song, and make-n-do, Timberlina who has hosted every ACT ART since the offset returns to her podium, microphone in hand to reside over an evening of performance, song and dance.
On the opposite side of the venue in the second performance arch we present a new addition to hosting duties… but no stranger to performing at ACT ART, Styles’ School For Scandal is presided over by the L’Enfant terrible of the queer underground live art world Ryan Styles who will no doubt bring an unorthodox approach to presenting the live art delights we have in store this year. ACT ART intends to mix up the balance between the challenging and entertaining, the risqué and innocent , when presenting the performance, live art & PA’s in these two main ‘playgrounds’ of art.
Alternative performance artist & Shoreditch mainstay Jonny Woo performs a special show and first appearance at ACT ART this year. Noted for hosting his riotous Gay Bingo, comparing at ‘Tranny Talent’ or dragging up in the ‘Dallas’ parody ‘Stark Dallas Naked’ or his equally eccentric ‘Night of a Thousand Jay Astons’, Jonny along with sidekick Ryan Styles also run the revolutionary club night TK Maxx. The Art Tart presents her award winning film Reform followed by a short art master class where the public is given paper and pen and invited to create their own piece of art.
