GORDON BROWN: “HAPPY AIDS DAY!”

Well. Not quite.

But Prime Minster Gordon Brown has just released a message sending his support for World AIDS Day. In the video, broadcast on No.10’s Youtube channel, Brown sends his support to activists around the world who refuse to give up in the face of HIV and AIDS. He adds: “In the 1980’s it was Britain’s gay community that lead the way. Even in the midst of so much sorrow, those who had lost loved ones refused to accept the silence and the stigma and set up pioneering charities which are still saving and changing lives today.” He adds: “But there is no room for complacency. More than a quarter of people with HIV don’t know they have it because they haven’t been tested. This government is wholly committed to increasing HIV testing and tackling the stigma that persists”
