We love Scottee, ever since we first saw him in Area, Vauxhall flouncing around the bar dressed as a pork pie, while all around him gympupped TOTO gayers were frottaging on the danceflax, swapping chemsex stories and fingering each other in the toilets. (Well, we were, if not you.)
But who is he?
Well, this is what scottee.co.uk says:
“Scottee is a performer and he is quite good at it. He has performed at some of the worlds most prestigious galleries & theatres including: Tate Britain; Tate Modern; ICA; and Roundhouse. He has collaborated with some of the world’s most influential practitioners including: Station House Opera; Augusto Boal; Lee Benjamin; Kate Moross; Warboy; and Emma Bell.
“As well as gracing the pages of Dazed & Confused, i-D, Paper, and Time Out, he was included in The Independant’s 2008 ‘Real Media 100′. His brash, clumsy and obnoxious approach to performance has left audiences confused, annoyed & amused. Whatever you think of Scottee – he probably won’t care.”

So there.
Anyway, last year we met up with Scottee – twisted club promoter, art fashionista, big boned busy body, general fantasm – at the opening night of Buy A Better You – a one man musical exploring his relationship with his mother, drugs, booze, fat and food.
Here he talks about how it all got started, why he hates gay men, his thoughts on Vauxhall and what’s next for Britain’s biggest art-bapper:
Buy A Better You returns to the London Hackney Empire on Saturday May 16th 2009 and in August 2009 at the Edinburgh Fringe.
