NIGERIAN TERROR PLOTTER LINKED TO EAST LONDON MOSQUE

A relative of Umar Abdulmutallab – the man arrested for trying to blow up a plane on Christmas Day has claimed that he came under the influence of extremist groups after visiting the East London Mosque.
The mosque has attracted criticism from Peter Tatchell after hosting events for a number of extremist Muslim speakers – including a pre-recorded talk by Anwar al-Awlaki – a radical Yemeni cleric who the US says acted as a mentor to the three 911 hijackers.
Earlier this year the mosque also faced criticism on HOMOVISION after failing to issue a statement about the rising number of homophobic attacks in London’s East End – often taking place in streets close to the mosque.
Abdulmutallab allegedly tried to blow up a transatlantic flight to Detroit shortly before it was due to land on Christmas Day.
