Next week sees the launch of Paul Burston’s latest novel The Gay Divorcee. The story revolves around Phil Davies – a Soho bar owner who in six months will be marrying Ashley – the man he loves. But there’s one problem – Phil’s been married before – to Hazel, who he’s yet to divorce.
If you’re a city centric London gayer, you’ll love Burston’s latest novel. All the familiar places and faces are featured – including the rants of a regular London blogger (based on the stirred-up rants of last year’s Naffnaffqueenqueen). Bitchy, funny, romantic and now – Burtson’s best work yet.
We met up with Burston earlier this week dot dot dot
Yeah – we got the name of the book wrong.
Anyway… Burston’s also taking his now legendary gay book club-night Polari for a wedding-themed Gay Divorcee extravaganza on May 20th. It featurees readings from the book, wedding cakes, wedding songs by Celine Hispice and readings by Trevor Medicine. DJ Dom Agius provides the sounds for all the family. Wear a suit. Bring confetti. Get off with the bridesmaid.

Paul is a shining light in the gay writting world, his books contain something for everyone, we’ll all identify with bits/part/all of his tales of life. I’m sure The Gay Divorcee will be just as good, if not better than his other work.
