Latest videos, News by HOMOVISION on June 30, 2009 at 7:46 amLast night we met Peter Tatchell at City Hall ahead of Boris’ Pride Reception (“For all those people who made a contribution to the London gay community” it said on the ticket.)
Very la la considering that Peter Tatchell – Britain’s leading gay rights activist – was not invited.
Anyway – we were meeting Tatchell to talk about Pride – how it’s changed, is it still relevant, does it still do what it was hoped to do all those years ago. His lack of an invite to the Mayor’s reception makes that fiasco sound ever more ironic, compared to the bumbling la la of a speech that Boris gave.
Here Tatchell talks about the commercialisation of Pride, the lack of politics, his urge for us all not to forget the politics behind Pride, and what you can do if you’re bored of the feathers, the arts and the parties during Pride Week:
